We celebrated a super great children's birthday there! Super delicious food, good condition! Simply great! Always happy to come back ... 👍

The Alte Tor is a very popular country inn in Pentling. The menu offers typical Bavarian specialties: e.g. Liver dumpling soup, farm goose, duck, grilled platter, Schäufele etc. I can particularly recommend the Wiener Schnitzel .... the pork is very thin and breaded perfectly ... and above all: it is free of fat, tendons, etc. . delicious. The fries aren't that great .... as they aren't that crispy. The side salads are super fresh and light. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The corona regulations are implemented very well: Plexiglass panes between the tables, only one person is allowed on the toilet, mask discipline, etc. This pub is definitely recommended

We have been to the Old Gate several times and always very satisfied. Today we were looking forward to Münchner Schnitzel, once with French fries and once with fried potatoes, but were then very disappointed. The potato salad not fresh, from the day before, just like the cucumbers and the green salad, which already had brown edges. The schnitzels from the deep fryer were soaked in fat, you could hardly taste horseradish or mustard. The fried potatoes are totally fat. It's a shame, otherwise we were always very satisfied. The service was very friendly and nice.

Very pleasant atmosphere, friendly, attentive staff (this was the first time people were asked whether they would like sauce, for example), large portions, at reasonable prices, and everyone thought it was delicious. We were there for the first time, but definitely not the last time

Toilet hygiene is unreasonable! As a handicapped one has problems to manage the many levels! In the toilet room there is no staff to clean (wet) ???? The main thing is that the key is disinfected. Staff hard-working but stressed

On arrival we were nagged by an unfriendly, unmotivated waiter. After 25 minutes we still couldn't place an order and then left. We weren't even looked at. We have never seen anything like it. Only bad.

Traditional inn with a beautiful beer garden. The service was quick and friendly. The food is delicious and the prices are moderate. The little detour on our route was really worth it.

We loved going to the Old Gate to eat. After our last visit we will probably not go there again. The service rude and brazen. After an hour of waiting, we dared to ask if we could order our food. The response from the waitress through the entire beer garden: "yes in half an hour" was not entirely appropriate. After about 1 1/2 hours we got our food. This was delicious though. When it came to payment, we waited again for at least three quarters of an hour. A friend drank water for € 3.50. Without saying anything at all, the waitress took his money and treated it as a tip and went back inside. We have never been at dinner for so long (without eating anything at all)

We were on August 10th, 2020 for a private celebration with a group of over 60 people in the beer garden at the Old Gate. Everything was perfect: friendly, very attentive service and the food was super good. There was schnitzel, roast pork and vegetable lasagne. All guests were enthusiastic throughout. Thank you for the nice evening😊

An absolute must if you want to eat traditional Bavarian food. When my father comes from the north to visit there is no other place he wants to go to :)

Due to the many good reviews we were happy to eat at the old gate. The anticipation was then clouded by an unfriendly wait staff. A nice waitress came later, but the mood was already in the basement. The food was okay but since we were sitting in a corner in the beer garden with a view of the wall, the ambience was not what we had hoped for.

Before we wanted to do our shopping at real, we first had to strengthen ourselves. The choice fell on the old gate and we have no regrets. Already the reservation was accepted the day before. And today ? What should we say: fast and helpful service, large portions, delicious food. Thanks to waiter Heiko !! And we endured a long time with our shady place.

It baffles me when I read reviews on places not speaking any language other than thier own... This restaurant is nicely tucked away, yet easily accessible. The Staff has been nothing but friendly everytime we have dined here. The food is delicious and everything I expect from a family style restaurant.

Delicious food and nice staff. Food came fast and hot. Schnitzel wonderfully fried in the pan and not floating in the deep fryer, sau good potato salad, home-made, roasted potatoes nice brown and not choppy. Side salad very sumptuous and great dressing. Grill plate good, meat a bissi too firm, with tastes are different. We will be back. PS: They still fight a bit with the spritzers. But if you point out that something does not fit, this is fixed immediately.

Nice restaurant but not foreign turist friendly. Menu only in German and waiters only German speaking.

Good middle-class guesthouse with very good kitchen. The price-performance ratio is great. The service is friendly and accommodating. Highly Recommended.

In some respects a really, really nice place. Sexy Oberpfalz retro folk interior, staff in Tracht, good service, a promising menu. Yet the food does not really hold up. It is by no way bad, it is just not very good either. The whole affair lacks a bit refinement and quite a few of the items can be had with a bit more oomph in other parts of town.

The restaurant was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and we had great service. They give you a large portion of food that is well worth the money. The food was good.

Really nice and cozy place, typical german kitchen. Large and unexpensive portions. I was really impressed, will definitely go again.

Service was right there and friendly, we were a group of 11 people, the first had their food after about 10 minutes and then there was something for the next in about 5 minutes, unfortunately I had the bad luck that I only got my schnitzel last got when the first were already finished with the food after about 15min, something I think should not happen. It was 1pm and pretty busy but luckily we had reserved. Food was right, prices are still okay.

Super
